Answer: Yes. If you’re a heavy smoker and haven’t been able to quit using a single nicotine replacement product before, you may want to try using more than one Nicotinell™ product at the same time. It’s called combination therapy.
You can use Nicotinell™ TTS Patches in combination with Nicotinell™ Medicated Chewing Gum to help manage your cravings. The patches can provide you with a constant supply of nicotine around the clock. But if at any time you feel a strong urge to smoke, you can use the gum to help take the edge off your craving and stay on track.
However, combination therapy is not recommended for long-term use, and you should speak to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist before starting on this treatment course.
Answer: Nicotine replacement products are widely used and have a proven safety record. However like all medicines, Nicotinell™ products can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects are redness or itching after using a patch, or dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort or sleep disturbance when using patches, lozenges or gum. However, if your side effects are troublesome, and do not improve or cause you any concern, tell your pharmacist or doctor.
